Tung Choi / Ladies Street (通菜/女人街)
August 12th, 2008 | by jys |The weather was so hot and we decided take a bath after we settle down (unpack a little bit ) at our hotel room. Where are we heading to after this? LUNCH of cos!! We had our breakfast at 5am and it’s almost 4pm now!! Super hungry!!
We decided to walk around to see what to eat. After a few minutes, we realized we were at the Tung Choi Street/ Ladies Street already!! See..
It’s very crowded although it’s 4pm+. I didn’t really shop as I’m too busy looking for food. Finally after passing by several ‘Char Chan Teng’, we decided to just try this char chan teng, Eat to New(新之食). The food was SUPERB. I wanted to go back to makan again before I came back but too bad, no time!! I really miss the mee, super super nice. The portion is really very big but I can finish it by myself. wuahahahaha… so tasty!!
After lunch, only I started to look at what they sell at the Ladies Street. The ladies street is actually quite long, I think it’s approx 3 streets long. Basically, the Ladies Street is very much like our KL ‘Chee Cheong Gai’. There are bags lar, clothes lar, t-shirts lar, pirated watches lar, and you got to negotiate with them. Beware, don’t negotiate long long but didn’t buy, later kena pukul!! If you do not have the intention to buy, DO NOT negotiate!! else you will kena. hehe.. We wanted to buy mahjong but couldn’t get a good price, so basically I didn’t buy anything from there.
Besides these stalls, there are plenty of shops around, Bossini lar, G2000 lar, Giordano lar.. We didn’t really have time to shop as we plan to go to the Star Avenue at 6pm. We walk here and there, from the ladies street to Mongkok (Mongkok really a good place to SHOP!!) Then we saw the famous Hui Lau Shan (许留山) @ Mongkok, Kowloon, so famous, sure have to try lar. Their mango sai mai lo is really NICE, no wonder soooo famous!! But service not too good.. cashier very rude!!
After we finished the dessert, we saw this..
I really wanted to try but I’m really VERY FULL!! HKD 7 each which means about RM 3.50 one!! Quite expensive also hor.. but the again, looks very nice lar.. We spent about 2 hours @ ladies street/mongkok, including eating our lunch and dessert, then we headed to the Star Avenue.
Next: The Octopus Card (八达通)
Prev: Our hotel, the YMCA International Hotel
