Hong Kong Disneyland (香港迪士尼乐园)
November 17th, 2008 | by jys |Today is the 4th day of our HK trip. Today we will only go to one place, which is the Disneyland!! Before our trip, we had some trouble deciding whether to go or not to go to the Disneyland. Why? Well, from our research, we had gathered different reviews on HK Disneyland, some said it was fun but most of the people said it’s not really worth to go. It’s small, it’s not like the other Disneyland. Anyway, finally we still decided to go cos we were afraid we will not have chance to go to OTHER country’s (Japan, US…) Disneyland. hehe..
After we had our breakfast at another HK char chan teng (明苑粉面茶餐厅) near the hotel we’re staying (Cityview Hotel, formerly YMCA International House), we hopped into the MTR and headed to Disneyland. I’m so excited!!

Disneyland I'm coming!!
Wow, I’m starting to get the Disneyland feel!! Disney musics are everywhere!! Welcome to the world of Disney Cartoons!! After the main entrance, we walked in and about 3 minutes later, we saw this…
This is the ticket counter and again, we have to queue to get the tickets. Luckily we didn’t need to queue for long, about 15 minutes later, we got our tickets!!
Our tickets!! HKD 350 for each person

Before you enter Disneyland, you'll see this. "Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy". erm, well, ok... let's begin our fantasy journey..
The staff will open up our bags and check what’s inside. I didn’t see any sign which says that we cannot bring certain things in, so I’m not very sure why they need to check our bags.
And here we are!! We are finally IN the Disneyland!!! There are basically 4 different sections in the Disneyland, The Main Street USA, the Tomorrow Land, the Fantasy Land and the Adventure Land.
While we were walking and exploring the main street USA, we saw this, the high school musical. But seriously, nothing much to see lar. They sing sing jump jump up there lor.. we just stop a while and took a picture then we continue to explore other places.
There’s nothing much at the main street USA, some souvenir shops, bakery and etc. We decided to explore these shop later. Then we proceed to the Fantasy Land. What’s inside?

one thing really nice is the air con is super cold!! hehe.. outside hot weather, inside cold and nice and the best thing is, you don't even need to walk. heheh..
The ride is about 15 to 20 minutes. So here we are, back in the hot sun. The minute we stepped out, we saw a lot of ppl gathering at a place. Oo.. no wonder so many ppl lar..Everyone is queuing up to take photos with Minnie!!
You can buy an autograph book at the entrance of the Disneyland and let these famous cartoon characters to sign on your autograph book. Clever right, Disneyland. A good way to earn money. I’m not sure how much is the autograph book but everything in Disneyland is expensive. hehe..
I’m not really a big fan of these cartoon characters but since we’re here, we have to take photos with them also lar, right? So we went to take photos with every characters that is available.. too bad i don’t see donald duck..

I don't what's his name. hehe, seems like nobody queue up to take photo with him wor..so both me and FL went over to take pictures with him lar.. he seems to like FL, hehe, keep touching FL's big big tummy. :p
After taking pictures, we went to see the 3D (or is that 4D) show. This is nice!!
The show is about 20 minutes too. The weather was really hot and stuffy and we’re getting tired. At that time, we saw this.. ah-ha, we can take the train!!
That’s all for fantasy land, and now we’re heading to the adventure land. What we have there?
There are really a lot of people there and everywhere we go we have to queue. But we noticed some people do not need to queue. they have some kind of pass which they will be allowed to enter without queuing. After surveying and asking the staff there, we found out that there’s something called fast pass! You get your fast pass and you can avoid the queues. So where to get the fast pass?
After we got our fast pass for the Lion King show, we went for a boat trip. The driver, which is also the stour guide, explained to us what we will see on the left and the right, which I already forgot what I saw. :p
It was already almost 3pm after we visited tarzan. He didn’t even offer us a cup of coffee. :p We were so hungry and we decided to have our lunch somewhere near tarzan’s house, a very nice food court, it’s like eating in the forest.
After lunch, we walked back to the main street and we heard from the staff that at 4pm, there will be a wet party there. For those who are not afraid to get wet, stand in front. They also provide an area for those people who doesn’t want to get wet.
Well, weather is so hot, why not?
I didn’t really get very wet also lar, they will sing and dance while spraying water on us, some with water guns, some with water pipes. hehe.. quite fun too!!
After the wet party, we went to see the Lion King show. That show is super boring, i almost fall asleep inside.
After the show, we proceed to the Tomorrow Land.
We will act as the space rangers and help the Buzz LightYear to protect the universe. The shooting game is quite nice, my score is quite high too. wuahahahhaa.. Besides the shooting game, we get to drive the space car. FL let me drive and I drove like a snake, very hard to control wuahahahahahah..
It was already 7pm+ when we’re done with the Tomorrow Land. We still need to wait for another 1 hour++ to watch the fireworks. We decided to go back to the main street and have a cup of tea at the bakery shop. The sausage roll is really nice!! After our tea break (7pm+ tea break, hehe..) we went to the souvenir shop to look look and see see. Didn’t buy anything cos everything is so expensive. Even a small little key chain also need HKD 50+!!
At 9pm, the fireworks started. It was very impressive and nice!!
We went off before the end of fireworks because we were afraid the MTR will be too crowded. We reached the Yao Ma Tei station at almost 11pm. This will be the last night in HK therefore we do not want to waste any of our time. We went to Mong kok for some last minute shopping and also went to the sports shoes street (波鞋街) to buy Nike sports shoes.
On our way back to our hotel, we saw a small shop selling lor mai gai, oh my, it was sooo delicious! We tabao back to our hotel as our dinner/supper.
If you asked me what I think about the Disneyland, I would say it’s not really worth to go. It’s kind of small, not much things to see or play with. But of cos, if you like those disney cartoon,s then i bet you will enjoy yourself too.
Next: 2 hours in Macau!!
Prev: Lantao Island (大屿山)

Hi Jys,
I was told one can’t bring even plain bottled water into Disneyland. Wondering how much do they for a bottle of water in there? If not, really need to think how to sneak makan in oh..
Jys:
I really have no idea wor, i brought 2 bottles of mineral water with me and they didn’t stop me also. hehe.. I didn’t buy any drinks in there and there’s a few places where you can refill water.
as for the food, about HKD 50 per person lor, you can refer to my disney lunch post.

Jys:

Hi Jys,
Do you need to transfer MTR fr Yau Ma Tei to Disney?
Jys:
Ya ya, need to transfer…forgot at which station. but you don’t need to leave the MTR station one.. they are all under one roof.. so quite convenient.
By jingjing on Nov 25, 2008 | Reply
Thanks! But sigh… off peak ticket HKD295, + MTR + lunch etc.. cost arnd HKD400 pp? A bit heartache lah… still sleeping on this..
Jys:
haha, if you like disney cartoons, then I think you should go lar. or if you have kids, I bet they will love me. But if you think you got chance to go to other countries’ disneyland, then i think you can skip the HK one, cos it’s actually pretty small. just my point of view lar..
By jingjing on Nov 26, 2008 | Reply
haha.. neither of the two applies for me! I missed the ones in LA and Tokyo, cos it’s quite far from the city and transportation wasn’t as cheap and convenient as in HK.
Jys:
Hmm, if i’ve been to other country’s disneyland, i think i won’t visit the HK one lar. :p
By jingjing on Nov 27, 2008 | Reply
Nah, HKD400 already I’m heartache, I didn’t go to any of the other disneylands either, too expensive lah, and I had very little time so I prefer to spend whatever time I had there wandering arnd the ‘real’ life places.
Jys:
oo, if want to save money, if you don’t like disney cartoons, if you didn’t bring any kids, then don’t go lar. hehe..

Golden Mickey show in Fantasyland IMO is the best in Disneyland HK. Space Mountain in Tomorrowland is also very nice if you like roller coaster. It’s an indoor roller coaster.
Jys:
Golden Mickey show? I think I missed that one? Don’t recall any golden mickey show.. as for roller coaster.. not ngam for old ppl like me lar.. hehe… later heart attack. :p
