My experienced at Sushi Zanmai, One Utama
December 1st, 2008 | by jys |I’ve heard a lot of good comments on Sushi Zanmai at One Utama from my friends, my colleagues and even some bloggers. Is it really that good? Well, I haven’t try before but I always see long queues in front of Sushi Zanmai, so I guess it must be good.
Last Saturday, FL and I arrived One Utama at 5pm+. We had our lunch early so we decided to have our dinner early too. There’s a short queue in front of Sushi Zanmai, so we decided to try it out. After we queue for a while, I suddenly understand how come there’s always queues in front of Sushi Zanmai.
In front of us was a family of 8, I see a lot of seats for 2 person but what they did is, they wait until they served the family of 8, then only let us (those 2 person one) in. So I waited for about half an hour before we were brought to our seats (which was available since I started to queue).
There was not sets so we ordered 2 rice, one beef and one chicken. Then we started to try the sushi. Seriously, I didn’t feel it’s that nice. The sushi broke into half when I tried to use the chopstick to hold it and the rice was half cooked!! Not nice at all!! We didn’t try much sushi and about 20 minutes later, they served us the beef rice. About 15 minutes later, FL almost finished his rice but my order still not arrived! I asked one of the staff to check for me, she said yes but did not come back to me. So I waited for another 10 minutes, and I asked ANOTHER staff to check for me. When I finally gave up (waited almost for an hour for that rice) and wanted to leave, they served me my rice. ~sigh… Does it taste good? No lor, rice still half cooked and tasteless. I have to add soy sauce and chili powder to make it tastier..
Oh ya, and talked about their service. If you asked for refill (the green tea), they will only refill yours, and not your partners! So each time if both of our cup were empty, we have to ask them to refill twice. Throughout that meal, we asked them to refill 6 times, 3 times for me, 3 times for FL. ~sigh…
So if you asked me what do I think about Sushi Zanmai? I will tell u, their service is not good, food just normal, price is not cheap, not worth to queue at all!! You may have a good experience there, but definitely not me. So no more next time!!

i had my dinner at zanmai last night (13 Apr 2011), ordered food at 8.12pm, waited for looooong time. My fren’s food came after 20min i guess, no tea served, until we reminded them (was after half an hour), then my food and sushi came only after 1 hour (9+pm), although i reminded them after my fren almost finish his food.
Lastly, they still dare to approach us to ask how was their service.
i almost wanted to tell them ” I WILL NOT COME TO THIS RESTAURANT ANYMORE!”
Jys:
ya, and I don’t understand how come there are always so many ppl Q-ing …even their food and service also so so..
