To ALL hypermarkets, if you don’t let us use recycle shopping bag, then DON’T sell it to us!!
December 8th, 2008 | by jys |Remember about a month ago I blog about the RM 2.70 recycle shopping bag that I bought from Cold Storage? Well, after I bought the recycle shopping bag, I always wanted to bring it along with me when I go for groceries shopping but every time I also forget. It’s either I forget to bring or I went out without knowing that I will go for grocery shopping, and I did not bring the shopping bag with me.
Anyway, last week I finally remember to bring it along with me when I go Carrefour. We got ourselves a trolley and I put the shopping bag in the trolley. Before I stepped in to the hypermarket, the security guard at the entrance stopped me. She said she need to wrap the shopping bag with plastic!!
I brought this shopping bag along with me is because I want to reduce the usage of plastic bags but now, before I buy anything, I already wasted a plastic bag!!! See!!
My recycle shopping bag is being folded and wrapped within the plastic bag!! A shopper passed by and asked us? Har? recycle bag also need to wrap ar… Ya ya, I told him, I’m not sure I’m doing the right thing or not, I’m actually wasting a plastic bag here!!
You know what, Carrefour itself is selling their own recycle bag, and very funny, cos they don’t encourage you to use it!! To me, I think if you want to encourage ppl to use less plastic bags, you yourself should really STOP wasting plastic bags! If you feel that you can’t allowed ppl to enter with an empty recycle bag, then I think Carrefour, you SHOULD NOT sell the recycle bag in the first place.
So far, I found that Jusco & Cold Storage (especially Cold Storage, they are selling the recycle shopping bags at a very cheap price) are really encouraging ppl to recycle. They sell recycle bags, and they encourage their shoppers to use it! Unlike those hypermarkets like Giant/Carrefour, they sell it, but they don’t allow you to use it!!
Any of you experience this? I’m really very unhappy about this!! Is there anywhere to complaint ar?

yeah…it seriously defeats the purpose of selling recycle bags. everytime i go into carrefour, must wrap things in plastic bag first. wrap wrap wrap! ended up, we’re using more plastic bags instead of helping the environment! these ppl don’t think one la…i tell ya

I believe the guard is taking her duty TO WRAP any bag regardless what is “recycle bag” about. So, this is the fault of their management dept which didn’t give clear instructions to them.
I used to have same experience in Giant Hypermarket. The guard asked me to put my recycle bags at outside… I lazy to argue with them cause I know is useless. I made a big turn and went in from other entrance.

If they want to SELL the recycle bags, then they have to let us use it mar, right or not? now ar, i rather go to those places that allows us to use recycle shopping bags!!

Haha… I have bad experience with Giant too…
Isetan in KLCC also encourages its customers to use recycle shopping bags, and it does a good job.
