Arrival at Taipei Tao Yuan Airport (台北桃园机场)
December 26th, 2008 | by jys |We arrived on time (8pm+) at the Taipei Tao Yuan Airport. The airport is pretty quiet, not much people.

This is the place to collect our luggage

pretty empty right?
After we collected our luggage, we proceed to the customer service to apply for the Youth Travel Card (青年旅遊卡). If you are between 15 and 30 years old who possess identity documents (passports), you may apply for a card for yourself. What is the benefit of applying this card? Well, you may get discounts for admission tickets, transportation, accommodation and even culinary delicacies! and it’s FREE!!
It only take a few minutes to apply for this card. You will need to fill up a simple form with your name, age, address, country and etc and submit the form together with your passport to the person in charge. After they verified that you are YOUNG enough to apply for this card, hehe, you will get this..

the Youth Travel Card (青年旅遊卡) and the discount booklet (to see which place can get discounts)
After we got the card, we asked for the direction (from the customer service, turn right, go straight, then turn right and walked to the end, the bus ticket counter will be on your left) to the bus ticket counter. Our hotel is somewhere near the Taipei Main Station (台北车站) so we’re going to take the Kuo Kuang Bus (国光客运) there.

the Kuo Kuang Bus Ticket Counter

we bought 2 return tickets (return can be any date within 2 months from the date purchase), nt 230 per return ticket
If i’m not mistaken, we saved nt 10 or nt 20 (per person) by getting a return ticket. hehe.. not much lar, but still cheaper a bit lar…

In the bus..
The whole journey from Tao Yuan airport to Taipei Main Station took about 50 minutes to an hour. On our way to the Taipei main station, we’re able to see the taipei night view. So this is how Taipei looks like. hehe… How I feel? excited excited excited..

Your page is very helpful.
Do buses have a display screen, where shows the next bus stop/destnation – like hk?
Jys:
Most of the buses in Taipei City have display screen which shows the next stop, but those buses outside the city one don’t have.
