well... can we get back the balance if we did not use up all the amounts from the card?

Jys:
yes, you will get the deposit + the unused portion back when you return the card.

is NT$400 the minimum amount? or i can store whatever amount as i wish?

Jys:
If i'm not mistaken, first time when you buy that card you need to pay nt500, nt100 is for deposit and you can use the nt 400. of cos, can refund when you returned the card.

Nice Blog about Taiwan! It makes me even more exciting to go to Taiwan soon! :)

I have got a quick question about Easycard. How do you top it up? at MRT station (ie automatic machine which you top up by cash), or any shop (7-11?)?

Thanks!

Jys:
We topped up at the MRT station, yes, you can either top up at the automatic machine provided, or you can top up at the counter. 7-11 ar? that one i'm not so sure..

HI,
Nice blog. This is nuttyazn from TA.
Easy card -Automatic 20% discount of published rates. Also, if you transfer to a bus within one hour, then the bus fare has about 50% discount. If transfer from bus to MRT within one hour -Also about 50% discount
Wulaiis considered outside the Taipei city area so thats why they accept part payment by easycard.
You can use it for MRT and City buses - Taipei City and suburbs- Railway train to Keelung and certain stops up to Shulin from Taipei main Station. For Rueifang and Yingge-You have to buy tickets at the ticket counter.

While the charge a NTD20/- fee (If returned within 3 mths) they also return all unused portion with the deposit.

Jys:
thanks for all the detailed information, I believe these information provided will be very useful for those who plans to travel to taiwan. :)

Its automatic 20 percent off when you scanned.
You can also used it for buses. No discount for regular bus unless its a transfer to and from MRT.

Jys:
wow.. didn't know got discount. I didn't go check the "real' ticket price. hehe...I did use on some city buses but not sure whey even after we scanned the card, they still required us to pay some cash...
