March 30th, 2009 | by jys |Last Friday I received a letter from UOB bank. I opened up and saw there’s this new credit card with my name on it. I did not apply for any card recently so I was quite frustrated when I received this. Is this their new tactic? Simply issue a new card to ppl?
Immediately I called and asked. I asked them do I need to cancel the card although I did not activate it? They said yes. So I told them I want to cancel my card. Guess what the customer service ppl told me? She said I need to go to any of the branch to cancel the card. I was kind of angry when I heard this. You sent me a new card which I did not apply and u need me to go to the branch to cancel it?
I raised my voice (just a little bit lar..) and asked her why they sent me a new card which I never apply for? Guess what? I rasied my voice, that customer service also raised her voice. She said.. We will NOT sent you a card IF you did not apply for it!! Then of cos, I raised my voice a little bit more.. hehe.. I told her I really did not apply for any card recently..
Then both of us paused for a while, and she asked me to check whether my existing card, is it going to expire.. and it turned out to be that new card I received is to replace the gold mastercard that is going to expire. I asked her, I am holding a gold mastercard, why you sent me a platinum ladies card? She said, all women with gold mastercard will received the platinum ladies card as replacement.
Well, since it’s a replacement card and I still got an installment on that card, I have no choice but to activate it. After I activated the card, I found out that in order to waive my annual fees, I need to spend at least RM 3K per year and I need to swipe at least one time per month!! Hey.. last time my gold card only need to swipe 6 times per year regardless the amount..shit man…. they now do business like that la…
~sigh….

easy peasy la….all bills automatically pay to this credit card. tat already exceeds the min requirement of swipe once a month and also accummulate RM3k per year.

well, the thing is, i got other cards mar. some more i don’t really use this card much… I keep it becos I still got an installment on it..

Monthly once is easy. RM3k is also easy for you la. Unless you have several cards like this.

I also use a UOB credit card at the moment. I think the benefits are much better than any of the Malaysian’s local banks.

no worry i think…if u use that card often & is a good paymaster, just ask them to waive the annual fee, if they dont wish too, just tell them u wanna cancel it, as other banks offer cards without annual fee…normally works. no harm to try. all the best.

haha, the thing is.. i seldom use that card one.. just becos there’s this installment plan on that card…that makes me still keeping it..
i think i till cancel off the card after i finish the installment plan… but very troublesome lar, need to go to the branch…

Actually you can made complaint to MCMC. They are very efficient in this kind of thing. Or transfer the balance to other card and cancel this one. = )
