Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia ~ 5th August 2009

August 4th, 2009 | by jys |

Since Monday, my friends had been telling me about this Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia. I failed to buy the previous two released cos I went during noon, hehe..So they were asking me whether I will buy this or not.

Some told me this Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia only promised to return 3 to 4% only, far less than the previous ones which return 6% and above. So they said not really worth to buy. But to me, it depends on how you see these things. If you treat it as a saving, then why not? 3 to 4% is still higher than the current FD rates (2%+), right?

So am I going to buy? Seriously, I haven’t make up my mind yet. hahahahaha, so i guess it depends on my mood tomorrow, whether I got mood to go to the bank or not. :p

What about you? Will you invest some on this Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia (AS1M)?

for my opinion, i dont see a point of establish a new fund which so called “similar” to ASM…

if the fund itself need more capitals, why dont they just add more units into ASM rather than create another new fund “satu malaysia”….

yes, i agreed no one know what is the return rate, those saying 3% – 4%, where the statistic come from before the unit even started to invest?

i just don’t like that guy’s style…he is strong, yet too fake! that’s why i also not planning to invest into his fund…

    Jys:
why create another new fund? i’m not so sure also, perhaps becos the investment direction is different, that is why they create a new fund rather than adding more units to the existing ASM?

I’ve invested some of my hard earned money in the Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia. Since it is not capital guarantee, sud i withdraw the money?

    Jys:
although it’s not capital guaranteed, it doesn’t mean you will not get any interest. Just that there’s a risk that you might get back less than what you invest. But on the other hand, you might also get more than what you invest, more than the FD interest.

I just bought 1000 unit this morning.
    Just as what you said
“If you treat it as a saving, then why not? 3 to 4% is still higher than the current FD rates (2%+), right ”
    Strongly agree.
Some more if next time this is getting high dividen we no need to queue up again at morning 5-6 am.
anyway good for learning invest also

    Jys:
ya, it’s true. it really depends on how you treat it. anyway, i wish you get higher dividend ya…

I am interested in investing this fund.
Even the projected is only 3-4% but is still higher then FD but there is one point that I wish to post here for discussion.
In the fund catalog, it stated “The price is fix to RM1 for buying and selling but not capital guarantee”.
I wonder, if the price is fix for buying and selling, then why not capital guarantee ?
Does that means they will give us -ve dividend if the fund does not perform well ?
    Strange clause.
Does anyone studies this clause ?

    Jys:
I think I’ve heard from a friend of mine about this, yes, it MAY return u -ve dividend… not sure whether it’s true or not lar..

as 1m chinese portion all sold out

i think the return will be on par with asm and asw2020 or even better .. at least 5% or more

expect a special dividend to be announced on its 1st anniversary like all previous asm funds

fixed price at RM1 per unit is better than capital guaranteed

all asm units can be withdrawn anytime without incurring penalty charges unlike unit trust

interest calculated at minimum holding of units during a calendar month (from the first day until the end of the month)

this is najib’s brain child ‘AS1Msia’ launched by him .. wouldn’t look good if the fund performs badly

good luck to all who hv invested!!!

    Jys:
hmm, but the asm is so difficult to buy..always sold out very fast!!
