Afraid of the word..”donation”??
November 16th, 2009 | by jys |Some ppl are very afraid of the word ‘donation’. To them, donation means they need to take money out from their pockets and give it to some strangers. Normally, these are the excuses they will give, “I’m very poor lar” (and u can see them wearing branded stuff), “very broke this month” (and u still can see them eating good food at expensive restaurants), and etc etc etc.
Anyway, what I’m trying to say here is that, donation doesn’t mean you have to take money out from your pocket. Have you seen those charity boxes (normally in orange or green) at the road side? You can donate your old newspaper/magazines, old clothes, tins there. It just take you a little bit of time, to collect those newspapers/magazines/tins/old clothes and put it inside the box. By doing that, you are actually donating to the poor, you are doing good deeds, and see, no money is involved!
There are a lot of con cases out there, so when we donate, we must make sure that we are actually donating to the right parties, and not some con man. Normally I will choose to donate stuff(clothes, groceries and etc) rather than money, unless I trust the charity organization.
So, don’t be afraid of the word donation! Look out for those orange/green boxes near your place and start donating your old newspapers/clothes ya!
