Card cancelled and at the same time, annual fees charged!!
December 3rd, 2009 | by jys |I walked in to the Public Bank near my office few weeks ago to get my debit card cancelled. Why? Well, since paypal funds can now be transferred directly to our bank accounts, why need debit card some more, right? Anyway, I walked in and told the customer service that I wanted to terminate my card, and requested her to transferred the balance in my card (RM 30+) to my savings account.
Yesterday I received a letter from public bank saying that my debit card was cancelled. I was about to check on my savings account to see the balance has been transferred or not when I saw ANOTHER letter from public bank. It is the statement of account for my debit card (I thought the card already cancelled? why sent me statement some more?) and I was being charged for annual fees! So funny lar, I received both letters together at the same day, one saying my card was cancelled, another one stated annual fees being charged. And of cos, the balance RM 30+ did not go to my savings account as well lar, they used it to deduct for the annual fees!
~sigh.. hate calling banks.. makes me wait and wait and wait and wait….. and i hate to listen to this.. “All our representatives are currently busy, please hold and we will attend to you shortly……

Got annual fees for debit card? That’s new! I didn’t have to pay for any annual fees for mine… But different bank perhaps. How much was it?

maybank charges 12 buck as annual fees for debit card if i aint mistaken…

public bank very pek cheh one la. I also cancel my debit card, and ask them to transfer to my saving account. More then 1 month no trasfer, I go to the counter and ask and complain. Then one that day itself, I got the $$ bank in to my account.

I am thinking to cancel my debit card too… Do I need to go to the branch that I applied this debit card?

I also got Pb debit card and plan to cancel it too. Just too busy to go to the branch la. Can we just called them and cancel the card?
