If you did use the internet banking, you will noticed that most of the bank added an extra security feature during login. For Maybank, they will show u a picture (which you chose earlier) and also a phrase during login. If the picture and the phrase is not what u chose, then it may be a phishing site, so do not login.

For Cimb, it is similar, but instead of a picture and a phrase, they asked u to enter a word and the word will be shown each time when you login.

I seldom login to cimb, so when I wanted to login last Saturday, I saw the word xxxxx. I couldn’t remember which word I entered but I decided to login anyway. However before I managed to press the login button, i accidentally pressed the refresh button.

To my surprised, after the screen refreshed, the word xxxxx had became another word yyyyy. Great!!! So am I in a phishing site now? Which is the correct word?

I ended up didn’t login cos I wasn’t sure which is the “real” one.. I think I need to call cimb to check it out…

Did you encounter such problem b4? Will you continue to login if you were me?

I went to the bank this morning to help FL pay his credit card. One of the cash deposit machine is out of service, therefore there’s only one left. There was already a lady queuing to use the cash deposit machine and I’m the second. I thought it would be pretty fast, who knows…

At first I did not notice what’s wrong until I kept hearing the counting cash sound coming from the cash deposit machine. You know when the machine don’t accept your cash, the sound of counting the money is louder (that is what I observe lar..), then the cover will opened up and request you to remove your money and you can add money later if you want to.

So normally ppl will try once or twice if their money is not accepted by the machine. But this guy, he kept trying and trying and trying and trying for like 10 minutes. Very obvious the machine is not going to accept your RM 50 and no matter how long you tried, you still won’t be able to bank in that RM 50.

So when this happened, you can either, turned to the person behind you to see if ppl got extra RM 50 to change with you or not, or just simply give up and let other ppl use that machine. But this guy, he did nothing, he just kept trying and trying his Rm 50, hoping the machine would finally accept his RM 50.

I was about to ask him whether he want to change the RM 50 or not when the wife (all the while standing behind) walked to him and gave him another RM 50. Walaoeh, she should have done that earlier wat.. by the time the guy left, there were already 3 more ppl queuing behind me!!

So please remember, always turned around to see if there’s anyone queuing behind you when you decide to keep trying to do something impossible!!

I just got back from lunch when I received this phone call. This guy (forgot what his name d) calling from Bank Rakyat, speaking Mandarin, looking for me by using my full name. I felt a bit suspicious d, cos Bank Rakyat not malay bank? Why speak mandarin one? Anyway, just listen to what he wants to tell me lar..

So he asked me did I call to Bank Rakyat to increase my master gold card credit limit. Then I said NO, cos I don’t even have Bank Rakyat’s credit card. Then he gave me my FULL NAME and IC No., asked me to confirm whether these information is correct or not. He got my name and IC correct, then he further gave me the billing address, which is in Sibu. Then I said address is incorrect. So he said he suspected fraud and asked me to hold on while he blocked my card (can hear typing sound some more, and background got a lot of malay talking.. hehehe….)

He told me my credit limit is RM 10K, and now already owed RM 9300, which I swiped it in casino in Sentosa, Singapore in June. So I kept saying No and No and finally he said it’s better for me to lodge a report to Bank Negara to play safe. And these are the information he gave me, asked me to write it down so that I can use it to report to Bank Negara.

Received call from this number : 03-21698888 (forgot the caller’s name)
Credit Card : Bank Rakyat Master Gold Card (credit limit : RM 10K)
Credit Card No : 5892 6720 9108 3033
Card Applied : 12 April 2010
Card Issued : 04 May 2010
Billing Address : 4A Lorong Salian, 18B 96000 Sibu Sarawak.
Bank Negara Phone no given by them : 03-27826813

Before he put down the phone, again he emphasized, asked me to lodge a report to Bank Negara. So I said ok and ended our conversation. Although I did suspect something is wrong, but still I think it’s better for me to really call to Bank Negara to double confirm. Of cos, I will not use the no given by them! I googled the no from the Internet and found Bank Negara’s no, which of cos is a totally different no lar. Then before I called, I googled the billing address too, and guess what? I found a blog post by googling the billing address!! Apparently this blog owner, Big Cow also received the phone call from them and decided to post in on the blog to share with ppl. Good job!! Here’s the link to the blog post, Bank Rakyat Credit Card Scam.

So after reading the blog post, I knew that I don’t even need to call to the real Bank Negara to confirm d lar… These ppl also very lazy lar, want to con ppl, used a different set of information lar.. billing address, bank, credit limit, all used back the same one, simply google also can find lar.. right?

So if you ever received such phone call, do not panicked. Just remember not to give out any of your information, and write down whatever they provided to you. Do not call back by using the phone no given by them, with the Internet, you can easily find any phone no you want, so google yourself!!

BEWARE!! con ppl are everywhere!! hehe..

I used to have 5 credit cards (1 Maybank, 1 HSBC, 2 UOB and 1 Alliance Bank) and ever since the government said gonna charge a RM 50 fee on every card, I started to terminate these cards one by one. I went to the UOB bank at Uptown to terminate the credit cards as they said we can’t do it over the phone or fax over the termination form. It was pretty simple to terminate these cards, just filled a simple form, and the officer in charge cut the credit cards into 2 right in front of me. A month later, I received an official letter informing me that my UOB credit cards had been terminated.

As for the Alliance bank credit card, I called their customer service and they said we are allowed to fax over the termination form. So I filled up the form and faxed over 6 months ago (yeah, last year November) and then I left 2 cards, one master and one visa. Although I’ve faxed over the termination form for alliance credit card, I still received the statement every month. So 3 months ago, I called and checked my card status, they said they did receive my termination form but due to a lot of ppl canceling their credit cards, it will take some time to process. So I said ok and wait… and finally I decided to call again today after I received the statement yesterday.

When I called them, they told me my card has already terminated but due to the balance I have in that card (the bank owes me RM 2.10) and because I do not have any saving/current account with them, they have no other choice but to continue sending the statement to me. Of cos I can ask them to issue a money order to me but according to her, the bank will charged me RM 2 for that, which means I will only get back RM 0.10. So she’s asking my permission to give that RM 2.10 to Alliance Bank.

Well, you know lar, I am so GENEROUS one, so I said yes and give them the RM 2.10. If you were like me, wondering why you still receiving the statements after you’ve terminated your card long time ago, better call them and asked.

The moral of the story? Never overpaid these banks cos you will never get back your money. hahahahahahaha…better still, don’t apply any credit cards…. :p

Last Thursday, I went over to Maybank to collect a new credit card. You must be wondering, gov charging RM 50 per card, everyone is trying to terminate credit card and why I go apply a new one? Well, I did not apply for a new card, the card is to replace my existing card, they upgraded my card.

Anyway, I went over to collect the new card, so when I asked them, will my existing card terminated automatically? They staff said, no, I can still used it. Apparently, they did not upgrade my card as I thought but they are actually issuing me another card!! I already signed “received” for the new card, so I thought maybe I just cancel off my existing card and keep the new one, since the new card offered a higher limit.

So i told the staff that I wanted to terminate my credit card, and asked they to transfer my existing installments/easy payments to the new card. The staff at the branch said I need to call credit card center to do that, they can’t do anything about it. When I got back to office from the branch, I called and guess what the credit card center ppl said to me? They said I need to do it over at the branch, they can’t do anything about it. Both parties also can’t do anything about it?

Of cos I told him the whole story, told him that the branch ppl said must call credit card center, but credit card center ppl said definitely must do it over the branch. FINE!! So just now during lunch, I went over to the branch again. I told them I wanted to terminate my credit card and asked them to transfer my installments to the new card. And guess what? They told me to call the credit card center again!

I am really pissed this time! I told her, “you asked me to call credit card center, credit card center ask me to go branch, so who is the person that is responsible for this”? She insisted that the credit card center is responsible for this and they cannot do anything about it.

I yet to call the credit card center but IF they tell me I need to go to the branch.. I think I will write a complaint letter to Maybank to complaint both parties!! Seems like no ppl is handling the credit card termination in Maybank? Or is this a new tactic they used to stop ppl from terminating their credit card?

I did something really stupid yesterday.. until now I still don’t believe I actually did that. Well, you see, every month, my salary will be in my Maybank account. If you have an account with Maybank, you should know that they don’t charge their customers annual fees for the atm cards, but we are only allowed to withdraw 4 times per month for free, the 5th transaction will be charged for RM 0.50. So in order not to be charged (it’s not like I always withdraw more than 4 times cos nowadays use credit cards more often, but sometimes I may, so..), what I do every month is that I moved part of my salary to another bank account which allows me to have unlimited withdrawals.

So this month, as usual, I withdraw money from Maybank and plan to deposit it at another bank. I was suppose to deposit yesterday but I forgot, and when I got home yesterday, I received a cheque from Nuffnang (yes, second payment from Nuffnang!! hehe..). At first, I plan to bank in to my Public Bank account, but somehow I wrote the Maybank account on the back of the cheque, so this morning I went to Maybank to bank in my cheque.

So.. after bank in the cheque, I went deposit the money that I withdraw from Maybank. Yes.. withdraw from Maybank and deposit balik into my Maybank account. Geng leh!! I still haven’t realized what I did until I login to the maybank2u website to pay bills, and found out how come my balance still got so much left. hahahahahahhaa…

really ‘dai tao ha’ la…

Anyway, I walked in and told the customer service that I wanted to terminate my card, and requested her to transferred the balance in my card (RM 30+) to my savings account.

Yesterday I received a letter from public bank saying that my debit card was cancelled. I was about to check on my savings account to see the balance has been transferred or not when I saw ANOTHER letter from public bank. It is the statement of account for my debit card (I thought the card already cancelled? why sent me statement some more?) and I was being charged for annual fees! So funny lar, I received both letters together at the same day, one saying my card was cancelled, another one stated annual fees being charged. And of cos, the balance RM 30+ did not go to my savings account as well lar, they used it to deduct for the annual fees!

~sigh.. hate calling banks.. makes me wait and wait and wait and wait….. and i hate to listen to this.. “All our representatives are currently busy, please hold and we will attend to you shortly……

Since Monday, my friends had been telling me about this Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia. I failed to buy the previous two released cos I went during noon, hehe..So they were asking me whether I will buy this or not.

Some told me this Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia only promised to return 3 to 4% only, far less than the previous ones which return 6% and above. So they said not really worth to buy. But to me, it depends on how you see these things. If you treat it as a saving, then why not? 3 to 4% is still higher than the current FD rates (2%+), right?

So am I going to buy? Seriously, I haven’t make up my mind yet. hahahahaha, so i guess it depends on my mood tomorrow, whether I got mood to go to the bank or not. :p

What about you? Will you invest some on this Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia (AS1M)?

The application for Sukuk Simpanan Rakyat (SSR) is quite simple. The whole application process took me less than 30 minutes. First, what you need to do is to print out the application form or you can get the form from any of the agent bank. It is a pretty straight forward form which requires you to fill in your information such as name, IC, address, tel and etc.

If you choose to pay in cash, you will need to open an account with the agent bank (where you apply for the SSR). If you choose to withdraw from your account, all you need to do is to fill in your bank account no. I ticked the ‘debit account’ and filled in my bank account no but the customer service officer told me they can’t withdraw from the ‘debit account’(not sure why). So the only option left is the ‘Cash’, luckily I brought my passbook along therefore I have no problem in withdrawing my money from the account.

The profit for the SSR is 5% per annum and we will be paid at the end of each quarter(5% divided by 4). Our money (including the last profit payment) will be automatically credited into our account maintained with the agent bank upon maturity (on 14 May 2012). You are also allowed to request for an early redemption (but not earlier than the first profit payment) and the profit payments will be apportioned based on the number of days held.

You will get an acknowledge slip from the bank officer to prove that you’ve submitted your application. Although the SSR is on a first come first serve basis, the bank officer told me normally our application will not be rejected.

I feel that saving in SSR is way better than in FD, so do consider this.
