Arggggg!! Don’t push around your responsibilities!!

Last Thursday, I went over to Maybank to collect a new credit card. You must be wondering, gov charging RM 50 per card, everyone is trying to terminate credit card and why I go apply a new one? Well, I did not apply for a new card, the card is to replace my existing card, they upgraded my card.

Anyway, I went over to collect the new card, so when I asked them, will my existing card terminated automatically? They staff said, no, I can still used it. Apparently, they did not upgrade my card as I thought but they are actually issuing me another card!! I already signed “received” for the new card, so I thought maybe I just cancel off my existing card and keep the new one, since the new card offered a higher limit.

So i told the staff that I wanted to terminate my credit card, and asked they to transfer my existing installments/easy payments to the new card. The staff at the branch said I need to call credit card center to do that, they can’t do anything about it. When I got back to office from the branch, I called and guess what the credit card center ppl said to me? They said I need to do it over at the branch, they can’t do anything about it. Both parties also can’t do anything about it?

Of cos I told him the whole story, told him that the branch ppl said must call credit card center, but credit card center ppl said definitely must do it over the branch. FINE!! So just now during lunch, I went over to the branch again. I told them I wanted to terminate my credit card and asked them to transfer my installments to the new card. And guess what? They told me to call the credit card center again!

I am really pissed this time! I told her, “you asked me to call credit card center, credit card center ask me to go branch, so who is the person that is responsible for this”? She insisted that the credit card center is responsible for this and they cannot do anything about it.

I yet to call the credit card center but IF they tell me I need to go to the branch.. I think I will write a complaint letter to Maybank to complaint both parties!! Seems like no ppl is handling the credit card termination in Maybank? Or is this a new tactic they used to stop ppl from terminating their credit card?

You know, those credit card sales ppl used to say this to their potential customer.. “apply lar, free annual fees, got free gift, no harm applying mar, you no need to pay a single cent also, you can apply and just leave it there in case of emergency…

But then, since our gov had announced that they gonna charged RM 50 per credit card, I’m sure the credit card sales ppl can’t use this to persuade ppl to apply their credit cards already. Who gonna pay Rm 50 yearly for a card that they hardly used, right?

As for me, currently I have 5 credit cards and I only used 2 of them frequently… So I guess I gonna terminate that 3 and leave 2 with me. Else I gonna pay RM 250 per year oh…

What about you? How many cards you have and how many cards you gonna terminate?

Remember few weeks ago I wrote a post about the new tactic used by the credit card sales person to sweet talk ppl to sign up credit card? Remembered she said we just need to help her to fill in the blanks on the form (which is the credit card application form) and when the bank calls to confirm about the credit card application, just say NO and no card will be issued? She begged us to help her so that she could finished her so called “homework”…

Guess what? FL received the credit card few days ago and there’s no phone calls from the bank to confirm the application!!! I really dislike these kind of ppl which uses some dirty tricks to get ppl to sign up. It’s all lies, and lies and more lies…

FL brought me to the newly open Tropicana City which situated between Uptown and SS2 to see see look look (there’s really NOTHING much there, we left that place in less than half an hour). After we parked our car, we walked in, and when we were about to take the elevator up to the first floor, someone handed something to FL. I think I should not use the word “handed” cos she pushed that thing into FL’s hand and forced him to hold it.

It’s a glass chess set. Immediately we told her we do not want it (cos we realized it’s the free gift from the credit card application and we don’t play chess too), but this girl told us, “don’t worry, it’s free, you don’t need to apply the credit card from me, just take it, just take it”. Then she continued to say, “please help me lar, i just want to finish my work, you just answer 5 questions and that’s it”.

Since it’s just 5 questions, FL said ok lor.. then she started to ask the questions. “What is you name?”, “Where do you live?”, “what is your phone no” and etc etc.. While FL answer her questions, she filled up the credit card application form!! When we asked her about that, she told us, “i will fill it up and pass it to the bank, when the bank calls you, you just said you don’t want the card. that’s it”!! We both felt we were being cheated! Of cos we can say NO to her at that point but FL was very kind to let her continue filling up the form, let her photocopy his IC and credit card.

So this is the new way they used to “sweet talk” ppl to apply credit card ya..If you are soft hearted/kind, you sure will let her continue to fill up the form! So lesson learned, when ppl passed you something, don’t hold it and let it fall!

Up to 10% rebate at Carrefour when you pay with Maybank Credit card.

Are you a Maybank credit card holder? Do you shop for your groceries at Carrefour? If yes, then make sure you use your Maybank credit card to pay when you shop at Carrefour. Why? Starting from 1st of September till 31st of December 2008, if you used Maybank credit card to pay when you shop at Carrefour, you will be entitled to get a 5% rebate and if it’s on a Tuesday, then you will get 10% rebate. It’s even better than the UOB one card which only rebate 4% when you purchase RM 50 and above!!

Hmm, there are more credit cards offering rebates, you guys know any other credit cards offering more than Maybank credit card? I just love these rebates. hehe..

When I saw a letter from HSBC lying in my mailbox today, I thought it’s the statement of account. But when I took out from the letter box, I knew it’s not, why? The size doesn’t seems right, statement of account normally it’s half of the A4 size, not that small…

Rm 10 StarBucks coffee gift certificate from HSBC? oo, now I remember, there’s a promotion going on last month, if we swiped more than Rm 30 we are entitled for the RM 10 StarBucks gift certificate. Not bad wor, so fast HSBC sent it to us!!
