The first time I booked with Air Asia, I went to Bangkok. That time I missed the RM 0 fares and I had to pay RM 9 for the air ticket (each person each way, excluding the tax) to Bangkok. The second time, I did not miss the free seats promotion and again, I booked flight to Bangkok. Yes I LOVE Bangkok. :p hehe… Then, my brother gave me the RM300 air asia voucher and I booked flights to Hong Kong (still need to pay Rm 10 per ticket, excluding tax). Then after I came back from HK, AA had promotion again and I managed to book tickets to Hanoi(still got few months away). Then after I booked the tickets to Hanoi, AA canceled the fuel charge and had promotion again. I remembered I was so geram that time cos it’s a lot cheaper without fuel charge!!

I did not book any tickets that time, then few months later, they have promotions again and again and again and today, they are having ANOTHER promotion (which i’m so tempted to book tickets to Bangkok.. :p, so cheap lar!!)…

Don’t you think AA is giving out free seats TOO often?

So how do I feel about HK and Macau? Seriously, I feel Macau ppl are quite rude. Some ppl said Hongkie are as rude as Macau ppl but maybe it’s my luck or wat, those ppl I met in HK are nice and friendly, but ppl in Macau, rude…

As for the hotel, I think I’ve made a very good choice. I’m very satisfied with my stay at The Cityview Hotel (formerly known as the YMCA International Hotel). Their rooms are clean and nice, the staff there are very friendly and polite, location wise very good and convenient (7-11 opposite, 3 minutes walk to the Yao Ma Tei MTR station), 5 minutes walk to the Ladies Street and Mong Kok) and most importantly it’s within my budget (about RM 280 per nite). Thumbs up for Cityview Hotel!

As for food, I only tried 3 types of food (Macau Famous Double Skin Milk!! (澳门双皮奶), Macau Portuguese EggTart （澳门葡挞）, Pork Chop Bun (scroll to the end of the page)) in Macau and seriously, to me it’s just so so only. But for HK, i tried many many food, and 80% of them are yummy! My favorite will be the Lor mai gai (glutinous rice chicken, 糯米鸡) and Vitasoy, original and honey dew flavor 维他奶, egg tart (蛋挞), and Dim Sum!!

As for the places I visited (forget about all the queuing, the rude china tourists that jump queues…), I think Lantao Island (大屿山) and The Peak + Madame Tussauds (香港杜莎夫人蜡像馆) are worth to visit!!

As for shopping, well, I miss those cheap Espirit, G2000, Bossini…I had a really a great shopping experience there!!

Overall I had an enjoyable trip, tiring but I have a lot of fun. If you asked me whether I want to visit HK again? My answer will be YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!! hehe..

Ok, I think I shall stop here, my summary becomes quite long already. :p

Hong Kong, I WILL BE BACK!!

Before we start our journey, we picked another char chan teng (通达食店) which is near to our hotel to have breakfast. Guess what i had for breakfast? The famous HK curry fish ball! hehe..After breakfast, we took MTR to Tung Chung.

FL’s friend is also meeting us today. Apparently he had not been to Lantau Island before even though he had worked in HK for almost a year. So he took this opportunity to go see see 6 6 with us. When we arrived at the Tung Chung station, he’s only on his way. We decided to go to the City Gate to shop first.

Maybe I had put too high expectation on this City Gate Shopping Centre that is why I felt a bit disappointed when I see those branded shops. There’s really a lot of shops there but the clothes or the bags are not really that nice lar. Out of so many branded shop, I only managed to buy a t shirt and a bag from Espirit.

FL’s friend called us when he arrived at the Tung Chung station. So we left the City gate to meet up with him. The day before, I told him I would like to try the Chinese Red Bean Pudding (缽仔糕) but I can’t seems to find any. He promised to buy one for me to try cos there’s a stall selling near where he stay. And he did brought 2 pieces of ‘put zai gou’ for us to try! I love it but FL said not nice. hehe..

What’s next? It’s cable car time!! So scary lar, I’m afraid of height ler, but die die also must go up to Lantau Island! hehe..

We spotted the altar of the famous Hong Kong Singer, Anita Mui inside the big buddha. Remember to keep your vegetarian lunch resit as you need that resit to enter into the big buddha. No camera was allowed so I didn’t manage to take any pictures. After spending 30 – 45 minutes there, we went down.

The weather is really very very hot. We decided to rest a while and tried the Moutain Water Tao Fu Fa (山水豆腐花) at a small shop. Nothing special lar, we can get better ‘tau fu fa’ here!

There are 2 rows of shops there, shops selling food, tidbits, souvenirs, clothes and etc. We only went in because there’s air con!! Since each of us have HKD 10 cash vouchers, we used that to buy ourselves a drink at the famous Honeymoon Dessert (西贡-满记甜品). Yummy Yummy!!

It was 4pm+ and we decided to leave the Lantau Island. Again, we have to queue to ride the cable car. Suddenly the weather changed, from bright sunny hot sky to a sky full of dark clouds.

I’m glad I’m not at one of these cable cars cos the wind is really strong. When it started to rain, I open my umbrella and guess what, my umbrella is broken the minute i opened it!! The rain was so heavy and the wind was soooo strong. It was really very scary!! The cable car stop service because of the weather. We were all stuck there for an hour!! No place to sit, everyone standing and squeezing like sandwich.

When we were finally back to Tung Chung, it was already 6pm+! On our way to the MTR station, we bought two egg tarts from Pie & Tart Specialist (蛋挞专门店). These egg tarts taste really nice!!

It was really a very tiring day. We decided to go back to our hotel to take a bath before we go out to find food for our dinner. We found a very nice shop selling yummy beef noodles ‘ngao lam min’ （牛腩面） and wan tan mee (云吞面) with big big wan tan!! Ahh, I miss the wan tan sooo much!! hehe…

That’s our third day of Hong Kong trip. It was exciting, fun, scary and full of adventures. hehe, what a day!!

How come everyone standing outside?

It’s basically a street full of pubs!! If you looked inside those pubs, you will see that those people standing outside is actually more than ppl sitting inside the pubs. According to our friend (who worked in HK), he said those ppl who can afford will go drink inside the pub, those who cannot afford will just go 7-11 (there’s one along the street) and get themselves a bottle of beer. Then they will stand in front of those pubs as if they were inside the pub!! Not a bad idea hor.. wuahahahaha, no wonder the people on the street more than those in the pubs!!

After taking a few pictures (we just plan to go there have a look, hehe), we decided to go back to our hotel, very tired and hungry!! When we reached our hotel it’s almost 12am!! What to eat at 12am? We got not much choice but to go tabao McDonald..FL tried the quarter pounder (足三两) which only sells after 9pm!! hehe..

Today is only the second day of our HK trip and I already can’t feel my leg. hehe…

It was already almost 8pm when we reached there and the Madame Tussauds closed at 10pm. We were so shock to see the queue was SOOOO long. Really shouldn’t go to Stanley market lar, if only we reached this place earlier, then we can probably avoid this long long queue. What to do now, have to join the queue lor.

After queuing for like half an hour, we only get to the main entrance (see photo above). Still got a long long way to go lar…Although we already bought our tickets from the travel agency but we still need to change to “real” ticket.

FINALLY, i'm on the train and I got myself a seat!

Half an hour later, after sweating and smelling all kinds of different smell from different people, I managed to squeeze myself into the train. I can’t really feel my leg anymore. It took us about 15 minutes to reach the peak. It was already 9pm.

We rushed in to the Madame Tussauds because it closed at 10pm and when we stepped in, it’s full of people. I didn’t have time to take each and every celebrity because there were so many people till we need to queue and take turns to take picture with each of the celebrity. Really picked the wrong time to go lar, not suitable to go during a weekend, some more school holidays.

We quickly walked around and take photos with all the celebrity, really ‘yao sat chor, mou fong gor’ cos we queued for so long only managed to come up here and the ticket is not cheap also. But don’t worry, I still managed to take some for you guys to see..

Luckily we managed to get into the train about half an hour’s time later. What a day.. It’s really worth to come, some celebrity really looks exactly like the real person, where else some not so lar.. and the night view is really superb. But remember, don’t go on a weekend, don’t go on a school holiday, don’t go too late, maybe around 6pm like that is the best, else you will suffer.. like me…

We took the mini bus (small van) from the Central to the Stanley market. How long is the journey, it’s about half an hour or so (sorry, can’t really remember how long.. ). We used the octopus card to pay for the bus fare (can’t remember how much also, i think it’s HKD 17, i THINK.. :p). The bus is very clean and the air con is cool.

On our way to the ‘Chek Chu’, we passed by both ‘sam shui wan’ 深水湾 and ‘qin shui wan’ 浅水湾. What’s the difference between these two places? One is for not so rich ppl and the other one is solely for rich ppl, ‘sam shui wan’ a lot of outside ppl (the people there purposely take bus from town to go to the beach) where else the ‘qin shui wan’ is mainly for rich ppl (you can really see a lot nice cars there), the ppl who stayed there. According to our friend, a lot of famous firm star houses are in this area.

The building with a whole!!

FL told me why this building is built with a hole in the middle. He said these ppl keep having problems when building this place so they decided to seek help from a feng shui sifu. This feng shui sifu said if they want to build the building, they must leave a hole in the middle so the dragon can go over. So there you go, a hole in the middle.. (also dono FL got bs or not.. hehe..)

Finally, we are here! This is the main street! A lot of foregners.

This is the famous stanley market? Not much ppl, not much things to see also.. not really worth the time to purposely come in here..

I’m actually quite disappointed with this place. There’s really nothing much to see or to shop. I also not sure why FL’s friend recommend this place to us. We’re basically done after half an hour and we decided to stop by and have a drink at McCafe (the mcDonald which sells only coffee but no burgers!).

If you asked me, is it worth to come, I shall say, if you got time, you can come, but if you don’t have much time, don’t come lar..

After we meet up with him at the MTR station, the first place we visited is this..

It suppose to be near but there was a huge book fair somewhere near there and they blocked some of the way so ended up we took a big big round to get there. We walked for almost 30 minutes under the hot sun to get there and we only spent about 3 minutes there and took 3 pictures.

We planned to go to the Peak at night and FL’s friend told us it is cheaper to get the tickets from the travel agency than to get the tickets at The Peak. Therefore we took the tram (so lazy to walk lar) to the travel agency at Central (中环).

According to FL’s friend, you strike if you win 4 numbers per row, but not sure how much lar.. So did we win? Of cause not lar, else I probably still in HK shopping!!

Finally we found the travel agency. We asked for the ticket price for The Peak + Madame Tussauds (香港杜莎夫人蜡像馆), Disneyland and Ngong Ping (昂坪), but seems like only the Peak + Madame Tussauds tickets are worth to buy. Original ticket selling HKD 170 but we only bought it for HKD 138!!

It was almost 3pm after we bought the tickets and we still have not had our lunch yet. FL’s friend suggested to go eat Dim Sum, yummy yummy. Of cause I wanna try HK dim sum and there we go!! We went to the Hong Kong Dim Sum @ Ka Ho Restaurant (香港点心 – 嘉豪酒家) at a few blocks away.

When we got out of the station, we followed the direction to go to Wong Tai Sin. Then we saw this…

They are waiting the shop to open!! See, got policeman some more.. So few ppl only? Wait till you see the next photo!!

Seems like ppl are queuing to wait for the shop to open. What shop is that? Selling what? I’m not sure, all I know is that the shop is going to close down. By the way, HK shops open quite late, they only opened between 10:30am to 11am.

There were already a lot of people although it’s only 10am+. There are a lot of tourists and the weather was very hot. Beside the main entrance, there are shops selling joss sticks and joss papers. You can buy joss sticks with them but don’t buy the joss papers. Why? Because you are not allowed to burn these papers. So if you buy, you probably have to bring it home with you!!

I didn’t buy anything because I don’t think I can stand the the heat plus the smoke from the joss stick. I have a sincere heart, so no need lar. hehe.. Donation is better right? :p

A lot of ppl.. weather is very very very hot!!

We went in to ‘bai bai’ (拜拜) and decided to ‘kao qim’ (求签). I was about to give up after shaking the bamboo ‘qim’ for more that 5 minutes. Finally, a stick dropped out. They asked us to remember the number and told us we can get the ‘qim’ at the side of the temple. Alright then..

There are a lot of plants, waterfalls around but we just simply walk walk and look look. The weather is just so hot and walking under the hot sun is not really that comfortable. Finally we saw the place where we can get our ‘qim’. It’s a row of shops and you can get people to explain the ‘qim’ for you. Besides that, they can also do palm reading, face reading and etc.

FL picked a lady to explain the ‘qim’ for him. He got a not so good ‘qim’ and the lady can’t really speak Cantonese. I think she’s from china.. Anyway, i decided to pick another one, which is an old guy with long beard. I thought mine would explained clearer who knows.. I picked the one that had hearing problem. I need to shout to communicate with him. And this guy.. he doesn’t really wants to explain the ‘qim’ for me, why? You see, I’m actually asking for career (my friend told me ppl go wong tai sin to ask for marriage, how come i asked for career, hehe, how i know wor..) but he kept talking about marriage, ‘yan yun’ (姻缘).

I was so frusfrated and I told him I’m asking for CAREER and not MARRIAGE. Who knows he’s even more angry than me when he heard what i said and told me that i got a SUPER BAD ‘qim’ and nothing to be explained!! So so so so rude lar!!

How come he so interested in talking marriage, well, explain the ‘qim’ only can earn him HKD 20 but talking about marriage can earn him hundred of dollars leh.. Luckily i’m not stupid.. I peeped at his price list when he starts talking about marriage. hehe..

Anyway, I had an unpleasant morning there! Feels like being cheated, should have just take the ‘qim’ (HKD 2), instead of asking for explanation (HKD 20). We only spent about half an hour there, and we went to the shopping mall beside the temple to shop! I bought so many G2000 clothes there (almost HKD 1000), can you imagine, 50% and 70% discount for the whole shop!! Shopping really makes my mood better and I totally forgot what happened just now!!

I really want to see how’s the real Temple Street looks like as I’ve always watched and heard it from the TVB dramas (recently watched one which talks about singing in Temple Street). I hope to see those ‘mai cheong’ (sell sing. hehe, direct translation), nor those sing and asked ppl to give money one leh.. Hope can see lar…

It was about 15 minutes walk from our hotel to Temple Street and on our way to Temple Street, I saw the Dorsett Seaview Hotel. If you follow tours, normally for the accommodation, they will give you this hotel. In fact I did consider booking this hotel before I decided to book the YMCA but after some research, I gave up on this hotel, they doesn’t seems to have good reputation. A lot of complaints and now when I see it for myself, I’m glad that I’ve made the right choice.

This is it? How come like so few ppl one? The ladies street are much more crowded and more stalls! I’m so disappointed, this is definitely not the same like what we saw in the TVB drama!

Nothing much to see..

It’s like a pasar malam to me! Besides selling accessories lar, bags lar, there’s also a lot of stalls selling sex toys!! There are also a street which full of people offering services like palm reading, card reading and etc. I was interested in the palm reading but that street was so dark and smelly, therefore I did not ask for the price.

We go one round and did not manage to get anything. When we’re about to leave, I finally saw the ‘mai cheong’ ppl. They are singing in a back lane, facing a wall!! There’s 2 ah po singing and one ah gong playing the ‘yii hu’ (二胡). How come I refer them as ah gong ah po? Cos they are really very old!! There were no audience at all and I really don’t know what they are singing..

At first we planned to have our dinner here but we can’t find any interesting food. Therefore, we decided to walk back to the Ladies Street to seek for food. What do I think about Temple Street? Err, nothing much to see, not crowded, not interesting at all!! Luckily I’m staying near Ladies Street and not Temple Street!!

We only spent about half an hour at Temple street and it was almost 11pm when we reached Ladies Street. We decided to try the Beef Porridge with Fried Cheong (牛肉粥与炸肠) (yao zha guai wrap with chee cheong fun) for dinner.

After dinner, we headed back to our hotel. It was really a fun and tired day, went to a lot of places, tried a lot of nice food, really looking forward for the next day to come!

It was only 7pm when we finished taking pictures at the Avenue of Stars. We are waiting for 8pm to come, to see the Symphony of Lights, featuring 44 buildings on both sides of the Victoria Harbour of Hong Kong accompanied by symphonic music (actually i thought got fireworks.. hehe, paiseh, then only i realized it’s just lights and musics, super disappointed lar!)

We decided to go walk walk and have a drink at the shopping mall beside Avenue of Stars. Instead of having drinks, we end up ordering a set of meal at Mc Donald. Are we really that hungry? We had our lunch at about 4pm, Hui Lau Shan (许留山) dessert at about 5pm+ and now 2 hours later already hungry?? or we never had McD before?

Well, seriously, I really nv had PORK @ McD before, this is the reason we ordered a set of meal, to try PORK Hamburgers@ McD!! hehe…

It was about 8pm after we had the McD and we rushed out. There were already a lot of people, tourists, locals, all gathered there to wait for the show to start. The symphony of lights started 8pm sharp. There were too many ppl so I hardly hear the music, all I can see was the lights.

Although it was very nice, but i felt a bit disappointed. Maybe I have too high hopes. However, my colleague told me it was nicer if you were on the boat. Really? I don’t know..But i did enjoy the nice lights on these buildings, it was amazing..
