We took the MRT to XinBeiTou station (新北投站), I like to travel by MRT, it’s fast and clean and comfortable. We do not know which direction should we go, luckily there are sign boards everywhere. We followed the sign board to the Beitou/PeiTou Hot Spring Museum (北投温泉博物馆).

This is the first thing we saw after 10 minutes walk from the MRT station.

BeiTou Hot Spring Museum (北投温泉博物馆)
it is just beside the library, admission is free.

It was built in 1913 during the Japanese rule and has been restored after they’ve neglected it for years. This is a very good place to learn about Beitou’s rich hot spring culture and history.

Before we entered the museum, we were required to take off our shoes and changed to the slippers provided. This is to prevent scratches/damages to the museum’s wooden floor.

They are on the roadside just after the BeiTou Hot Spring Museum. The pools are communal (men and women together) so you will need a swim suit for this.

If you don’t wish to pay for the hot spring, you can try this. This is FREE! See the lady down there? She’s soaking her feet in the water.

I found the sign board quite funny.  The sign board is placed here cos there are a lot of ppl sit beside the road and soak their feet in the longkang. wuahahahahhaa…

I told FL, really got ppl will sit along the roadside to soak their feet meh? Guess what? we really saw a family of 4, took their shoes off, sit at the roadside and enjoy soaking their feet into the longkang water… wuahahaha dun play play…

It took us about 10 to 15 minutes to get to Hell Valley from Beitou Hot Spring Museum.

Hell Valley/Geothermal Valley
(locals refer it as the source of sulfur water(磺水头) or ghost lake(鬼湖))

it’s a natural hot sulfur spring where the water temperature can reach up to 100°C (212°F)!!

I like the view, it’s like fairy land but beware!!
Hell Valley’s hot springs are sulphurous and extremely corrosive.

when you walked towards the end, you will feel yourself surrounded by misty steam. everything else seems blur….

After visiting the Hell Valley, it’s the Hot Spring time!! There are a lot of hotels around the area, we wanted a private pool but we don’t want to pay a lot for that.

凤凰阁

This is the first hotel we asked but they only provides rooms (with bed) with hot spring. Why don’t we take the rooms + bed + hot spring? Well, it’s more expensive mar, some more we only plan to soak for an hour or so. The person in charge then introduce us to another hotel which provides private rooms for hot spring.

He told us it will only took us 5 minutes to reach that hotel but it actually took us about 15 minutes. The hotel is quite deep inside.. We did asked a few other hotels along the way and none of them provides rooms for hot spring only.

The hotel is very quiet, maybe it’s because of the location. There are so many hotels out there which are nearer to the main road, not much ppl willing to walk so far to this hotel (except us.. hehe..).

Like the previous hotels, the person in charge introduce us to their rooms with bed + hot spring. We told her we want a private room for hotspring, then only she showed us another brochure with the picture of the private hot spring room. The room looks ok to us and the price is ok too, nt 200 (23.50) per person for 2 hours. So we took the room and paid nt 400 (RM 47) for 2 person.

While we followed her to the private room, I noticed the hotel is actually quite OLD.. hopefully the room is clean lar..

With that kind of price, I can’t complaint much lor, right?

We don’t feel the water is very hot, probably becos of the cold weather. They said the water can cure skin problems wor.. hopefully my skin will be smoother and all pimples will go away after soaking in this water. hehe…

We left after 1 hour++ feeling fresh. I do feel my skin is smoother.. hehe… It’s time for next destination!!

So from CKS Memorial Hall Station, we took the MRT to Xin Dian Station (新店). After we reached Xin Dian Station, we asked around to see how to get to Ulay(乌来). They told us we can take the bus to Ulay and the bus stop is just beside the MRT station. Cool.. we only waited for about 5 minutes and the bus had arrived.

If I’m not mistaken, we paid nt 25 per person (approx. RM 3) from Xin Dian to Ulay. The bus was quite full and we got no place to sit. I was standing at the same side with the bus driver and there’s not much to see but FL’s side (the other side opposite the bus driver) got lot’s to see. As we go up the hill, we passed by houses, mountains, tree, and the color of the river is green in color. Nice!!

About 15 to 20 minutes later (after turning and turning), we arrived at the famous Ulay!! It’s the last stop so you don’t need to worry that you will be at the wrong place.

90% of these stalls sells food and drinks. We were not really hungry although it’s already 1pm+ but when I saw the grilled mua ji (拷麻薯), I decided to try. hehe.. I nv see or tried anything like this before! It’s yummy!! After the mua ji, we tried the pork hot dog (山猪香肠). It smells so nice and we can’t stop ourselves from going near the stall!

At the end of the Ulay old street, we followed the sign to see the hot spring and water fall.

Most of them brought food, it’s like picnic!! and some even had bbq there! geng!! not bad hor, can have bbq and at the same time enjoy the hot spring. it’s like heaven!! See the auntie (blue) on your right? She’s changing into her swimming suit there!! Super geng!!!! wuahahahahaha…

I noticed there’s an umbrella far away from this crowd, I zoomed in and saw this guy.. damn enjoy leh him.. personal pool, far away from the crowd. hehe…

After checking out the public hot spring, we followed the sign to see the water fall. On our way up to see the water fall, we saw a lot of shops provides private hot spring. We plan to have hot spring else where, so we did not try. We walked and walked and walked and 10 minutes later, we were on an empty street. Strange, are we on the right way? There must be some other tourists/locals around mar…

Then we saw a local came out from her house, we asked for the directions. She told us we were on the right way, just go straight and continue to walk about 20 minutes, then we shall see the water fall. Wah seh..20 minutes ar.. go up the hill some more leh..no choice lar, there’s no other way to go up except to walk. Treat is as exercise lor.. luckily the weather is nice (about 15 degrees)!!

About 5 or 10 minutes later, we reached here…

We finally arrived at the top of the hill about 30-35 minutes later!!! The local told us 20 minutes can reach? If we run maybe can reach lar. hehe.. we walked quite fast and only stop at a few place to take photos.. Wow..damn tired…

It took us 30 minutes to go up, and we spent about 30 minutes up there, and took us about 15-20 minutes to walk down. When we were back on the Ulay Old street, we tried the Hot Spring Egg with ShaoXing Wine(温泉绍兴酒蛋) and the Sweet Potato ‘Di Gua’(蜜汁地瓜). We decided to had our lunch later since we already had so many snacks. hehe..

The sky is dark and looked like it’s going to rain. We rushed to the bus stop to catch the bus back to Xin Dian.

We were given these when we took the bus up to Ulay and down to Xin Dian after we paid the bus fare. I think this is to prevent ppl give less bus fare. This needs to be returned to the bus driver when you reached your destination.

How do I feel about Ulay(乌来)? Hmm, I still think this place is worth to visit. The view is really nice and the snacks are really yummy! hehe…as for the 30 minutes walk, let’s just treat it as exercise lor..good for health mar.. nice weather, fresh air, nice view, nice food, how can you missed any of these?

It’s about 45 minutes – 1 hour journey from the Sungai Buloh toll to Sungkai toll. Just follow the Ipoh’s direction and about 45 minutes later, you will see this..

After the toll (RM 13++), go straight (till you see the traffic light) and turn left. You will see this sign board. Go straight again after turn left and ..

It's about 10am+ on a Saturday morning. A nice and lovely morning!!

Finally, we're here!! Although this is the main entrance, don't rushed in. Turn right to get your tickets first.

This is the first thing we saw. There were already a lot of kids enjoying themselves there at the pool. The water is cold here, not hot!! Water here is not very deep, suitable for little kids. Beside the octopus, there’s this..

This one very nice ler, if you stand below the waterfall, it’s like massaging your back!! So strong and powerful, a very good massage if you have a stiff neck!!

We were not allowed in this pool. Not sure why, it's 40-43 celcius. If you wanna see you are healthy or not, try to walk on these little stones, if you if you don't feel pain, that means you're very healthy!! I feel pain ler.. **sob **sob

we brought 20++ eggs but we only boil 10++ lar, each person one enuf lor..boil boil boil..Althought it says 6-7 minuets but since we're boiling so many eggs, we waited for another 3 minutes, a total of 10 minutes!

Besides the egg boiling pool, there’s another pool beside for people to boil their legs. hehe.. not boil lar, for you to ‘zham’ your leg. Heard ppl said it’s very good if you got rough skin wor.. not sure lar..

This pool is too hot for me, i only can touch a bit but not able to soak my whole leg in.. but some ppl can tahan ler..the auntie beside me soak for more than half an hour!! damn geng!! see her leg? two colors already!!

After enjoying ourselves at the hot spring, we went back to the giant octopus pool to play water. We spent about 4 hours at the hot spring and left about 3pm. Food were not allowed cos there’s a cafeteria there but we did not eat there lar (except the egg). After shower, we headed to the Sungkai town to try their famous ‘chu sao’ (pig hand or leg?? (猪手)) at the Choy Kee Restaurant (财记饭店).

Did I have fun? Oh well, ok lar, not bad lar, I think kids will enjoy more!! If you have kids, bring them here lar, they’ll love it!!
